International students are beginning to travel more and more during their breaks from studying at top-notch US universities and schools. This is not surprising, because savvy students know many cities near them are a short plane or car ride away, and students can research online ahead of time what a city has to offer for budget-conscious students.

The city of San Francisco is a very popular place for students to choose to go to college. If you are studying in Los Angeles, SF is only 6 hours by car or an hour plane ride. Read on to learn about a few popular experiences international students can have on a budget-friendly exploration of this beautiful city.

Wander Along the Stairways
There are many stairways in San Francisco, as well as stairway streets. While this could seem like a boring adventure for some 20-year-olds, the views from atop are breathtaking and it is really something that must be done while in San Francisco. After all, it takes a lot of stamina to climb these stairs and then live to tell about it the next day!

Go Down the Slides
Where there are not stairs in San Francisco, there are concrete slides. We don’t know any college student that won’t love sliding down the slides over in Bernal or on Seward Street. These slides can be extremely fun after a night out on the town with your friends.

You can also walk the Golden Gate Bridge which is free and less than 2 miles one-way, or spend your day wandering the streets through Chinatown, and then take a ride on an iconic cable cars.

Where College Students Should Eat in San Francisco
There are many places to eat in San Francisco, but the one that most college kids like yourself should check out right away is the Ferry Building. Inside, there are many different cafés and restaurants, as well as a farmer’s market and many different vendors. You can easily find anything you are craving at the Ferry Building. Beep’s Burgers should be your number one choice though if you are craving burgers, while it is all about the pizza at Monterey Pizza and Asian Zap. You can’t forget about the sweets when you are in San Francisco! 5 Sweets is the place to go when you, and your college buddies, are cravings smoothies, coffee, and delectable crepes.

Events in the Park for College Students
There are many different events that take place within Golden Gate Park, but you will want to focus on the ones that are geared towards college students like yourself. The Surrealistic Summer Solstice Jam is quite popular. However, so is Comedy Day during the month of September. You may be older right now, but that doesn’t mean you won’t enjoy all the festivities that are held during the Tree Lighting at McLaren Lodge. Once the tree is lit, you can go on the rides, listen to live entertainment, and even watch Santa arrive for all the fun in December.
