CSUN homestay students attend the IEP (Intensive English Program) located on the campus of California State, University Northridge.  CSUN is located in a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, Ca.

Many students who attend the IEP program go on to study at 4-year universities. IEP classes are offered year-round for international students.

CSUN homestay students are typically placed within 5 miles of campus. Metro.net has a great trip planner for students needing to know how to get around the city. CSUN also has a free bus service that services the immediate area around its campus for students. There is a free shuttle between the CSUN Campus and the Northridge Metrolink Station as well.

Our IHPS host families in these areas have been with us for many years, and their students tend to stay very long-term. Long-term students also tend to purchase cars for this area as well.  CSUN homestay students arrive at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which is about a 30 min drive to Northridge. IHPS offers airport transfer for students who book this service.

In Northridge, the summers can be super hot.  Winters are long and cooler. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 45°F to 91°F and is rarely below 38°F or above 101°F.

Northridge is located 30 miles from the beach. The bus can take 2 hours plus to get to the beach, so you may want to consider traveling to the beach by Uber or Lyft or with a friend who has a car.
