NYC homestays is a very popular program for students and interns and we get many requests year after year. Students attend several different area schools, but the majority of our requests are for the College of Staten Island– CUNY, and for internship placement.
We can place international students and interns in homestays in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island. The costs for homestay in each of these boroughs vary widely. We also suggest applying early for homestay as we are not always able to handle all of the requests year after year. Typically, we start a “waitlist” for students who arrive in the summer and want to stay for the fall semester.

In New York City, the summers are warm and humid, and you will find the winters are very cold, windy, and long. Heavey jackets, scarves, gloves, and hats are definitely needed in the fall! Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 28°F to 85°F and is rarely below 14°F or above 92°F.
