There are a ton of choices in Los Angeles to study and we offer homestay for many of these schools. The city of Los Angeles is pretty big, and our transportation system here is not that great. It’s best for your homestay to be as close as possible to your campus. We always suggest applying for homestay housing very early as we work on a first-come, first-served basis. The most popular time to arrive here for our students is summer right before starting fall classes.
Santa Monica College, UCLA Extension, and Pasadena City College are schools that are very popular for international students.
The main arrival airport for our IHPS students arriving in LA is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). IHPS offers airport transfers for students going to many cities in Los Angeles. If you study on the West Side of Los Angeles (Santa Monica College, UCLA, WLAC, El Camino), you will only be about 25 mins from LAX to your new host family’s home. If you study in Pasadena or Glendale, LAX is about an hour to your homestay, and of course, all of these times depend on traffic in Los Angeles. Traffic in Los Angeles can be crazy at times!!
The city of Los Angeles is very diverse, and you will meet people from all over the world. Most of our IHPS homestay students end up staying in their homestays for 1 to 2 years. The reason for this is many students become very comfortable in their homestay and feel like family with their hosts. If one of these schools in Los Angeles is your top choice, you will not be disappointed!
