Pasadena City College, Art Center College of Design, Los Angeles College of Music (formerly LA Music Academy), and, of course, California Insitute of Technology are schools located in Pasadena, California.

Pasadena is located about 12 miles from downtown Los Angeles. IHPS offers homestays for some high school students attending some schools in the area. Please contact us to find out which high schools we service.

International students attending the above schools, and interns working in Pasadena or nearby La Canada Flintridge are welcome to apply. Most homestays are located within 5 miles of campus. The bus service includes city busses in Pasadena and the Metro Gold Line. Both offer trip planning on their websites.

Glendale, CA is another beautiful city about 9 miles from Pasadena and is home to Glendale Community College. Its bus service includes the Glendale Beeline, which operates for free! Many of our hosts are located in the La Crescenta and La Canada area which is very convenient to GCC. A highly popular area for our students to hang out is Americana at Brand. Tons of stores and restaurants and located in downtown Glendale.

In Pasadena, and Glendale, the summers are short, hot, and clear and the winters are long, cool, wet, and partly cloudy. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 45°F to 88°F and is rarely below 38°F or above 97°F.

If you happen to study at Pasadena City College or Glendale Community College, take the opportunity to stay or arrive in the city during the New Year. Pasadena’s Tournament of Roses parade on New Year’s Day is not to be missed.
